Creative Inspiration Paints Tutorial

Today, Dudette Anne is going to show us how she uses Creative Inspiration Paints in her projects.

This is Last Call Leonard, a July 2011 new release from Dude Time Doodles.  Leonard is colored with a combination of Copic markers and Creative Inspiration Paints.  If you haven't tried these awesome paints, you're in for a real treat.  They are a water-based iridescent paint that goes on just about any surface.  Think of bling in a bottle; the sparkle and shimmery look of these paints are amazing.  And they are so easy to use.  Just shake up the bottle (to make sure the shimmer is evenly distributed throughout the paint), dip your paint brush into the paint that's on the lid, and start creating.  Clean up is a breeze too - a little soap and water.

You can add color to your image using a paint brush or you can use these paints to highlight a certain portion of your image.  I didn't have any smearing of ink, either from the Copics or from the ink jet printer ink used to print out the image.  

I've highlighted several areas that were colored with Copics with the paint (parts of the bar, the whiskey in the glass, his eyes) and I painted directly to color his tie, the whiskey bottle, and the swirls around the sentiment.  

The photo on the left is close-up of the swirls that I painted with Tanzanite.  The shimmer in person is even better.  The photo on the right is a close-up of the bar area.  You can really see the areas of the bar highlighted with Frost White.  The bottle was colored with Sage and his tie was colored with Mellow Yellow. (There are 55 colors to choose from.)  I also highlight the whiskey in the glass and Leonard's eye pupils with Gold.

There are so many other things you can do with these paints as well, including painting directly onto ribbon for a shimmery look to coordinate with the colors of your image.  You can also create really cool backgrounds with these paints. 

 I took a piece of bubble wrap and randomly painted Sunshine, Pink Highlights (looks  iridescent white until you hold it at an angle), and Light Purple to create a unique background.  I also painted on a piece of white ribbon with the Light Purple and used the back end of my paint brush to make Sunshine yellow dots across the ribbon.  I was able to create a bit of texture on the cardstock that I used the bubble wrap on by pouring a small amount of Pink Highlights onto my non stick craft sheet and dabbing a wadded-up end of bubble wrap into the paint and then onto my cardstock.  Very cool effect.

  

I must say the camera doesn't quite do this paint justice.  You can see how the light reflects off the paint and how shimmery it looks, but it looks so much better in person.

These are just a few of the many uses of the Creative Inspirations Paints.  You'll have to try it for yourself to see how much fun you'll have with these.
