September New Release Blog Hop

Hey, hey, hey . . . the time is here for September's New Release Blog Hop! The Dudettes love this time of month when we welcome new citizens to the Dude Time Doodles family. We've got fun images for haunting -- Colonel Creepy, Wanda Witch, Fanny She Devil and Grim Grisham. If your Dude is a hunter, then Heath Hunter is your guy or hunka-hunka Babe Watcher who is searching for two legged *dears*. And finally, Knockout Nancy proudly sporting a black eye! 

Our hops are always one big circle.  So, no matter where you get on, you will always get around to see each new image being released today.

Tips for creating masculine cards...

A new feature the Dudettes have decided to start is a tips post.  Along with the challenge post, we'll be including a post a day or two after the challenge with tips on how to conquer the masculine card. 

Here are some general tips on creating masculine cards:

Anne suggests using different dies and embossing folders.  Jute or rope instead of ribbon. 

Lynn picks a masculine paper after she decides which image to use.  The embellishments she choses are normally brads, twine, or buttons.  Paper piecing is also good on masculine cards.

NanaConnie uses a lot of layers on her masculine cards.  She feels the layering makes the card feel more "embellished" even though it's still clean.

Dawn doesn't shy away from ribbon on masculine cards, but instead of bows, she'll tie knots.  She will also add a flower, but will grunge it down a bit with distress inks. 

Now for some tips especially for the HEROS challenge:

From NanaConnie:

I thought of twine for embellishment, but using only one strand seemed skimpy so I pulled four strands, trying to match up with the various colors in the card. Four strands of twine gave enough to have a nice bow size and so I left well enough alone and didn't do any additional embellishments.

We hope that this new feature will help you feel more comfortable creating masculine cards.

Heroes come in all shapes and sizes.  From the every day super hero with super human powers to the women fighting breast cancer and trying to keep her spirits up.  From your local police officer, fire fighters and doctors to the husbands who wash the dishes!!  

Many different shapes, occupations, and sizes.


Let's see who the Dudettes claim as their heroes...


Ernie Carpenter is NanaConnie's hero, because he helps build houses at Habitat for Humanity.

Chrissy's hero is her Daddy and her Daddy deserves to relax like Harold Hammock!!

Ruth's hero is her son.  She's very proud of how he gives his all like Kyle Karate.

Breast Cancer Awareness Girl and all others who have suffered through this horrible disease are Tammy's heroes.

Fred Eccs and the guys in brown are Anne's heroes, because they can balance many boxes without dropping one!

Linda believes that Every Day Hero Evan is the bomb!!

Under Carriage Craig always comes to the rescue for Michelle.

Rough Night Rodney always turns into Henry Hero at Dawn's house!

Cleota dedicated her card to the volunteer and full time fire fighters who fought the blaze in Bastrop TX - her home town!!!

Revenge of the Nerd Ned holds the key to Lynn's hero heart!!

HOW DEE!!!

Whew! I'm exhausted!  We've been celebrating and celebrating our first birthday and *man*, I'm tired from all the fun stuff going on.  I'm ready for a rest!!

I hope you have had a blast looking for our scavenger crawl items.  We've had a bunch of people participate and we love seeing that participation!  We had several new faces and that makes us very happy.  The Dudettes want to send out a hearty THANK YOU for all those who helped us get this far and can't wait to hear who the winner of the $20 gift certificate to Dude Time Doodles is.

September New Release Blog Hop

Welcome!  Welcome!!

All the Dudettes are so glad to see you today!  We have been having a ball celebrating Dude Time Doodles first birthday.  The Scavenger Crawl is going strong and you can still join in the fun here.  The Crawl doesn't end until next Tuesday evening, September 6th and there are many prizes to get your hands on.  Even a $20 gift certificate to the Dude Time Doodles store.

We have new citizens joining the Dudeville family each month and today we'll be introducing you to a few more.  We've hired a new postman and lawn boy.  Fanny Beach and Cleeve Climber are sharing some of their summer family vacation photos with us.  Ted Tight End came back into town for football training camp after the NFL lockout ended.  Hagar the Horrible and Fanny Witch are also on hand for the opening of Dudeville's new Halloween costume store.  We welcome them to our family with open arms. 
(At least until one of them gets caught being naughty!!)

First Annual Dudeville Hollow Scavenger Crawl

How dee!!!

The day is finally here!

It's time to celebrate Dude Time Doodles' birthday with our First Annual Dudeville Hollow Scavenger Crawl.  The band is performing their sound check.  The athletes are stretching.  Chef Burly Becky has the viddles all set out ready to eat and Mayor Boni will be here to start off the festivities.

We want to welcome our special guests and YOU.  We hope to inspire you and give away some goodies as we celebrate The Dudes turning one-year old. 

  The Dudettes and their special guests have created some awesome projects for this event.  As you "crawl" through their blogs, you'll need to search for the items on our scavenger list posted below.  The items you are looking for are ones that most dudes cannot - or maybe they can - live without.
